The aim of this course is to understand the physical principles on which the main properties, structure and evolution of the stars are based. Among the topics which will be studied during the course are: stellar atmospheres, formation and analysis of the spectral lines, star formation, planetary systems, the Sun, stellar evolution, nucleosynthesis and compact objects.

It is assumed that the student has a basic background on thermodynamics, atomic and nuclear physics, quantum mechanics, electromagnetism and statistical physics. The student should have also followed previously an introductory course on Astrophysics, although this is not strictly necessary.

If you love physics...you will love stellar physics!
